Al Wasl Freezes Two Stars with a Surprise Decision Before the Al Nassr Match
Tuesday 07-04-2026
The UAE's Al Wasl Club announced a surprising decision to suspend two players from the first football team, a move that raised questions ahead of crucial upcoming matches for the team.

The club clarified through its official account on the "X" platform that the decision includes goalkeeper Khalid Al-Sanani and Moroccan defender Soufiane Bouftini, as they have been excluded from participation until further notice.

The statement indicated that this measure is part of internal arrangements, pending the completion of reviewing matters according to the regulations in place within the club, without disclosing additional details.

This decision coincides with Al Wasl's preparation for an important match against Ajman on April 11, as part of the UAE League competitions, which further complicates the team's technical situation.

The team is also preparing for a strong match against Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia in the AFC Champions League, a much-anticipated encounter that will be held as a single match instead of the usual home and away format.

The match between Al-Nasr and Al-Wasl is scheduled to be played on April 19 at Zabeel Stadium in Dubai, as part of the knockout stage of the continental tournament.

It is noted that the Asian Football Confederation decided to hold the quarter-final and semi-final matches of the tournament in Dubai as single-leg encounters on April 19 and 22, due to the current circumstances.
