Napoli's head coach, Antonio Conte, has expressed his readiness to return to coaching the Italian national team following Gennaro Gattuso's departure, after the team's failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, according to reports from "La Gazzetta dello Sport".

The report indicated that Conte is fully passionate about returning to coach the Italian national team and is open to taking on the role again to rebuild the team's ranks. The report also explained that the officials of the Italian federation see Conte as the most suitable option for this phase to restore the team and get it back on the right track.

Antonio Conte previously led the Italian national team from 2014 to 2016, during which the team was eliminated from the Euro Championship in the quarter-finals by Germany in a penalty shootout.

On his part, the president of Napoli expressed his approval for allowing Conte to coach the national team, even though his contract with Napoli runs until June 2027. It is worth mentioning that Conte led Napoli to win the Italian league title last season, affirming his ability to achieve success on both national and international levels.
