Media personality Ahmed Shobier revealed that there is a trend within the Egyptian Football Association to extend Colombian Oscar Ruiz as the head of the referees committee.

Shobier said in radio statements: "A responsible source in the Football Association told me that the intention is to renew Oscar Ruiz's contract for one more season."

He explained: "Oscar Ruiz, in truth, I sat with him, he is a highly professional man who does not fear criticism and from the beginning he has aimed to bring up new referees and has the courage to remove referees from the international list and add new ones."

Shobier added: "Ruiz was upset that the Football Association did not clarify whether he would continue his work or not, but the responsible source in the federation I communicated with told me the man succeeded to a very large extent, and therefore it is natural to extend his contract for at least one more year."
