Oscar Announces Retirement from Football After Sudden Heart Attack
The Brazilian player Oscar, from São Paulo FC, announced his retirement from football at the age of 34, following a serious health crisis in recent months that required his hospitalization.
The club released a video on its official platforms in which the player expressed his decision, confirming that his career with São Paulo, the club he recently returned to, has come to an end. He noted that returning to the starting point holds a special feeling for him.
Oscar explained that the decision was not easy, especially since he wanted to continue playing on the field and contribute more. However, he was forced to stop due to what he experienced, affirming that he will continue to support the team as a fan in the coming period.
The player revealed details of the health crisis, indicating that his heart stopped for a few minutes, accompanied by a severe drop in blood pressure, before undergoing cardiopulmonary resuscitation and later being able to recover.
Oscar lost consciousness during the team's training session in the gym before being taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with fainting due to a sudden drop in blood pressure and heart rate, a condition that requires continuous medical monitoring.
The player agreed with the São Paulo management to terminate his contract before its due date, which was supposed to last until 2027, relinquishing a significant portion of his financial entitlements.
It is noted that Oscar joined São Paulo in January 2025, participating in 35 matches during which he scored two goals and provided eight assists, leaving a clear mark despite the short period he spent with the team.
