Benfica Blocks Path for Aspirants to Sign Its Young Player
Saturday 04-04-2026
Benfica Club officially announced the renewal of its young full-back Daniel Banjaki's contract until 2031, in a move that underscores the club's commitment to one of its most promising talents.

The player, who recently turned 18, signed a long-term contract after returning from his participation with the Under-21 national team.

According to reports, the new contract includes a substantial release clause amounting to 80 million euros, clearly indicating the club management's confidence, led by President Rui Costa, in the player's abilities and his future with the first team.

Banjaki is experiencing an exceptional season in terms of development, having been crowned the Under-17 World Cup champion after previously winning the European Championship for the same age group in the summer of 2025. This has accelerated his rise through the youth teams at the "Seixal" academy.

The player also made his first appearance with the first team under coach José Mourinho last December, when he participated in the final minutes of a Portuguese Cup match, effectively starting his journey with the "Eagles" seniors, which attracted interest from major clubs, including Germany's Bayern Munich.
