Benfica's Position on Selling Schjelderup Amid Barcelona's Interest
Tuesday 31-03-2026
While FC Barcelona awaits the final decision regarding the activation of the option to purchase Marcus Rashford for 30 million euros, the team continues to explore alternatives to strengthen the left wing. Among the most notable names being considered by the club is the young Norwegian Andreas Schjelderup, aged 21, who is under contract with Benfica until 2028.

Schjelderup, who came from Nordsjaelland, has a release clause valued at 100 million euros. However, Benfica does not object to his departure for an amount close to 20 million euros, taking into account that his former club will receive 20% of any future sale.

According to the Portuguese site 'Record', the young Norwegian has seen a significant increase in his value during the second half of the season, and the role of his agent Rafaela Pimenta, who also manages the interests of Erling Haaland, is considered an important factor in facilitating his potential move to Barcelona.

Barcelona's elected president, Joan Laporta, enjoys a strong relationship with Pimenta, providing the club with a unique opportunity to negotiate. Schjelderup has scored six goals and provided three assists this season, and he also scored in the recent friendly match that Norway lost to the Netherlands 2-1.

Schjelderup's participation with the Norwegian national team in the World Cup is expected to be an opportunity to enhance his status and fame, especially since his country has not participated in the tournament since the 1998 France edition, which may influence the final decision regarding his future with Barcelona.
