Barcelona club is preparing to reactivate the empty seats system at Camp Nou, according to the Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo', as the club is studying the possibility of implementing the system even at the end of the current season to ensure no seats remain empty despite tickets being sold out.

This new system differs from the previous version before moving to Montjuïc, as it will affect season ticket subscriptions, not the fixed seat tickets, which have been temporarily suspended since the 2023/2024 season.

The club considers the empty seats system an effective tool for both subscribers, who receive a partial refund of their ticket value if they do not attend, and for the club, which can sell those seats to other fans if the subscribers do not use them for any reason.

Since the reopening of all the first and second stands, the club has noticed that some subscribers confirm their attendance on time, but then fail to show up at the last moment, preventing the stadium from achieving full occupancy. With the increase in the number of subscribers to the season ticket system, the need to reactivate the empty seats system has emerged, although the main challenge now is not assigning a fixed seat to each subscriber, as they are given the seat for each match after confirming attendance.

The newspaper confirmed that the temporary season ticket system has been highly successful so far at Montjuïc and Camp Nou, contributing to good ticket sales, but the absence of a fixed seat causes some inconvenience for subscribers. Therefore, the club is considering the possibility of assigning a seat to each subscriber, considering that operating all seats fully will not be completed until 2027, making it a technical challenge to maximize revenue from tickets.

The report indicated that the empty seats system, after some modifications, will become a tangible reality in the next season, with the possibility of applying it even by the end of the current season.
