Kubo races against time to return before the decisive period with Sociedad
Monday 30-03-2026
The Japanese star Takefusa Kubo is nearing the completion of his recovery and return to the field, as he aims to assist Real Sociedad during the crucial stage of the season.

The player, absent since the match against Barcelona last January, is working to expedite his return in order to gain some minutes in the league against Levante or Alaves at the Anoeta Stadium.

Kubo hopes to regain his fitness before April 18, the date when Real Sociedad will face Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey final at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville, a match that represents the team's biggest goal at the moment.

Since joining Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022, the 24-year-old winger has become one of the team's standout players, attracting the attention of several European clubs from the English, Italian, and German leagues. Tottenham was the latest club interested in signing him, given the existence of a release clause in his contract worth 60 million euros, with Real Madrid retaining 50% of the resale value.

Despite the interest from clubs, Kubo currently prefers to focus on the remainder of the season, especially with the team's improved results following the arrival of coach Pellegrino Matarazzo, as Real Sociedad has returned to compete for a European spot. The player is also looking forward to an important event this summer, the World Cup, where he aspires to participate with the Japanese national team.
