8 Players Withdraw from England Camp After Draw with Uruguay
Sunday 29-03-2026
The technical staff of the England national team, led by coach Thomas Tuchel, announced the withdrawal of eight players from the national team camp after the 1‑1 draw with Uruguay in the friendly match held at Wembley Stadium, in preparation for facing Japan.

Reports indicated that the withdrawal was due to injuries or concerns about potential injuries necessitating a return to clubs for further assessments.

The players who left the camp are goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, defender Fikayo Tomori, and forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, in addition to John Stones, Adam Wharton, Noni Madueke, Declan Rice, and Bukayo Saka, who returned to their clubs to receive the necessary medical care.

The match against Uruguay saw England draw after defender Ben White scored the equalizing goal in the 81st minute, while Uruguay's Valverde succeeded in scoring a penalty in stoppage time, ending the match 1‑1, amid tense reactions from the crowd towards some players.

These withdrawals put the technical staff in a difficult position before continuing the team's preparations for the 2026 World Cup, as they are expected to affect Tuchel's tactical options and the team's lineup against Japan.
