Milan's Position on Activating Füllkrug's Purchase Clause
Saturday 28-03-2026
AC Milan has decided to allow their German player Niclas Füllkrug to return to West Ham United at the end of the season, after the player failed to deliver the required level during his loan period, despite the purchase clause in his contract being very low, at only 5 million euros, according to reports from 'Calcio Mercato'.

Füllkrug joined Milan on loan in January to compensate for the decline in the attack line, but he was unable to make a clear impact due to a foot injury, scoring only one goal in 14 matches totaling 429 minutes of play, which did not change the management's stance on activating the purchase option.

Journalist Matteo Moretto confirmed that the deal was originally planned as a loan, with the purchase option to be activated only if the player made an exceptional contribution, which did not happen, despite the unusually low value of the clause for his contract with West Ham, which extends until June 2028.

The report indicated that Milan has already tasked their scouting network to search for a new striker with similar physical attributes in preparation for the upcoming summer transfer window, to ensure the club's frontline is strengthened before the next season.
