Borussia Dortmund has reached a preliminary agreement with the agents of their defender Nico Schlotterbeck regarding the renewal of his contract until 2031, in a move aimed at securing the stay of one of the team's key defensive pillars for the coming years.

According to Sky Sports, the new contract will make Schlotterbeck the highest-paid player within the club, reflecting his significant technical value and pivotal role in the team's lineup.

The agreement includes a penalty clause that will come into effect starting in 2027, amid growing interest from major clubs, most notably Real Madrid, along with several Premier League clubs.

Despite reaching an agreement with his agents, the deal is still awaiting the player's final approval, paving the way for the official announcement of his contract renewal in the near future.
