The management of Al-Nassr Club quickly broke its silence, defending its goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi after the wave of sharp criticism he faced following the Saudi national team's recent loss.

Abdullah Al-Majed, the president of Al-Nassr Club, affirmed his full support for goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi, emphasizing his great value within the team.

Al-Majed wrote on his official account that Al-Aqeedi was one of the influential elements in the national team's qualification for the World Cup, considering him a source of pride for Saudi football.

This statement came in response to the attack launched by media personality Walid Al-Faraj, who criticized the goalkeeper and some national team players following the heavy defeat against Egypt.

The Green team suffered a heavy defeat with a score of 4-0 in the friendly match held at the Inma Stadium in Jeddah, as part of preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

The Saudi national team is currently undergoing a training camp, which includes a second friendly match against Serbia on March 31, as part of the team's preparation for the global event.

The Green team is in Group H for the 2026 World Cup, alongside the teams of Uruguay, Spain, and Cape Verde, which underscores the importance of thorough preparation.
