Guler Continues to Shine with Real Madrid While Bellingham Threatens His Spot in the Lineup
Saturday 28-03-2026
The Spanish newspaper "Marca" confirmed that the Turkish star Arda Güler continues to deliver an outstanding performance with Real Madrid this season, after contributing an assist for the Turkish national team in their qualification to the final qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup.

Guler was a key player under coach Xabi Alonso since the Club World Cup, but he lost some importance after Jude Bellingham joined the lineup, before Álvaro Arbeloa regained his starting role within the team.

The newspaper pointed out that Bellingham's return from injury poses a direct threat to Güler's position in the lineup, as the English player secures his spot in the starting lineup, which could affect the participation of Güler or Thiago Bejarano, another option Arbeloa is considering.

However, the numbers are in favor of Güler, who has become the team's best playmaker this season with 15 assists, including two in the Club World Cup, four in the UEFA Champions League, and nine in La Liga.

In comparison with major European leagues, Guler ranks fourth behind Olise with 25 assists, Firmin Lopez and Bruno Fernandes with 16 assists each, while Valverde recorded 12 assists and Vinicius 10 assists for Real Madrid. Guler also demonstrated his playmaking ability with the Turkish national team, where his passes were crucial in the team's recent victory.

During his statements from the Turkish national team's camp, Guler said: "I feel that my career is developing positively. I can play in several positions, which gives me a different perspective and enhances my vision of the game. I can perform better on both sides of the field, and when I play in a deeper position, the coach's expectations differ. Here in the national team, when I play as a playmaker, the requirements are different."
