Lautaro Martinez Nears Return to Play with Inter Milan
Friday 27-03-2026
The Argentine Lautaro Martinez, captain of Inter Milan, is close to returning to his team's starting lineup during the anticipated match against Roma in the Italian league, after a period of absence due to injury.

Martinez had suffered a calf muscle injury during his team's match against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League qualifiers on February 18, which kept him off the field for a while, as the coaching staff, led by Cristian Chivu, preferred not to rush his return.

According to press reports, the player has recently started to increase the intensity of his training, both on the field and in the gym, in addition to continuing his physiotherapy program, as part of a gradual rehabilitation plan.

The reports indicated that Inter Milan is confident in Martinez's full recovery and is currently working on gradually restoring his physical readiness, in preparation for his return to match conditions after an absence of more than a month.

The player is expected to join group training with the return of his teammates from the international break, with the possibility of him starting in the upcoming match against Roma, given the team's need for his efforts after a recent decline in results.

During Martinez's absence, Inter's results declined, with the gap at the top of the Italian league shrinking to six points, after the team achieved only two wins, compared to three draws and two losses across various competitions.
