Al-Nassr Angry Over Stadium and Timing of Al-Wasl Match
Thursday 26-03-2026
The decision by the Asian Football Confederation sparked a wave of discontent within the Saudi club Al-Nassr, following the announcement of details regarding the team's upcoming match against the UAE's Al-Wasl in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League 2.

The decision to select Dubai to host the decisive matches has increased discontent within Al-Nassr's ranks, especially with the adoption of a single-match system instead of the home-and-away format.

The continental federation decided to hold the quarter-final and semi-final matches on April 19 and 22, in a surprising move that sparked much controversy among the participating clubs.

Media reports indicated that the anger from Al-Nassr fans is largely due to the match against Al-Wasl being held in Dubai, instead of giving the opportunity to host the game in Saudi Arabia.

The management of Al-Nassr expressed their annoyance at the delay in submitting the hosting file, as it was submitted late after pressure from the club, which led to its rejection by the Asian Football Confederation.

The match between Al-Nassr and Al-Wasl is scheduled to take place on April 19 at Zabeel Stadium in Dubai, as part of a single-elimination format.

This amendment to the tournament system comes as a result of the current circumstances, which have necessitated changes to the schedule and venues of the continental competitions.
