New Judicial Blow to Real Madrid... Continuation of Santiago Bernabéu Parking Project Freeze
Wednesday 25-03-2026
Real Madrid received a new legal setback concerning the parking project around the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, after the Supreme Court of Justice in Madrid rejected the club and city council's request to temporarily resume the works.

According to "Mundo Deportivo," the court completely rejected the appeal submitted by Real Madrid and the Madrid City Council against the temporary enforcement decision, based on ruling number 62/2026 issued on February 5, leaving the project halted by judicial order since September 2024.

The court had previously upheld the objection of the residents surrounding the stadium to the project, considering that it does not serve the public interest but rather benefits the club privately, which formed the basis for the judicial decision to halt the work.

The Third Administrative Disputes Chamber confirmed in its ruling the complete rejection of the appeal, maintaining the decision to suspend the execution of the works, and obligating the city council to take all necessary measures to ensure the continued halt of the project, in accordance with the provisions of the previously issued judgment.

The ruling also emphasized that the interests of the residents, considered part of the public interest, outweigh the urban development interests related to the club and the municipality, thereby reinforcing the continuation of the project's suspension at the current stage.

With this decision, the Bernabéu parking project remains halted with no immediate signs of resumption, pending the outcomes of upcoming legal proceedings, especially as the decision to revoke the concession remains in effect for the time being.
