Union Postpones Departure of Conceição and Planes Indefinitely.. What Are the Reasons?
Tuesday 24-03-2026
Al-Ittihad Club is delaying the decision on the dismissal of Portuguese coach Sergio Conceicao, despite the team's declining results and their painful exit from the King's Cup tournament.

This decision came after a series of internal meetings between the board of directors and the executive and sports managements to discuss the reasons for the fluctuation in performance in recent times.

The management emphasized in an official statement the need to intensify efforts and unify work within the club, focusing on competing in the AFC Champions League for the elite in the upcoming stage.

It was also decided to postpone any crucial decisions until the end of the season, where a comprehensive evaluation of the team will be conducted before determining the future of the technical and administrative staff.

In a related context, the club's management has backed down from the decision to terminate the contract of the sporting director, Ramon Planes, despite discussing this option in recent days.

The resolution of this matter is linked to the recommendations of CEO Domingos Soares, who reports to the board of directors before any final decision is made.

The Union currently holds the sixth position in the league table with 42 points, after achieving 12 wins, 6 draws, and 8 losses, reflecting a decline in their performance this season.
