Lens Issues Official Statement Due to PSG Match Crisis
Tuesday 24-03-2026
The French club Lens issued an official statement regarding their match against Paris Saint-Germain, scheduled for March 6 in the French league, reaffirming their firm stance on not changing the match date.

Press reports have confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain is planning to request a postponement of the match in order to have sufficient rest before the clash with Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.

Lance stated in his announcement that, from a standpoint of responsibility and commitment to sports stability, he informed Paris Saint-Germain from the outset of his unwillingness to change the date, emphasizing his dedication to maintaining media silence on this matter. However, the repeated statements and various interventions prompted the club to break its silence and speak publicly.

The club explained that rescheduling the match would result in the team not playing for 15 days, followed by a series of matches every three days. This does not align with the schedule set at the beginning of the season nor with the club's ability to handle such physical and organizational pressure.

The club also pointed out that this situation reflects an unfair reduction of the local championship in favor of the interests of strong European clubs, considering that the French championship should not be adjusted according to specific external interests, especially after recent changes in the league such as reducing the number of teams to 18 and canceling the League Cup.

The club concluded its statement by reaffirming its commitment to the principles of justice, respect for rules, and all involved parties, emphasizing that these values are essential to ensuring fair and reliable French football.
