Zidane Approaches Coaching France After the World Cup
Tuesday 24-03-2026
Attention is turning towards the possibility of Zinedine Zidane taking over the leadership of the French national team following the upcoming World Cup finals, amid increasing indications of an approaching agreement despite the lack of an official announcement so far.

According to numerous press reports, statements by the president of the French Football Federation, Philippe Diallo, clearly hinted at this direction, affirming that the team needs a coach with high specifications and enjoys public support.

Diallo explained that he received fewer than five nominations for the position, all of which are from French coaches, reinforcing the idea of limiting options within the local school. He also emphasized the importance of selecting a personality capable of maintaining the team's status as one of the strongest teams in the world, which aligns with Zidane's widely supported attributes.

Conversely, French media reports confirm that negotiations with Zidane have been ongoing for weeks, even suggesting that they have reached very advanced stages.

Zidane is expected to succeed the current coach Didier Deschamps, who led the team for 14 years and achieved significant accomplishments with them, most notably winning the World Cup.
