Sunday 22-03-2026
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta appeared in a press conference following the team's 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the English League Cup final on Sunday evening.

The coach said: "It is painful to reach the final match while yearning to win the first title of the season after eight months of hard work. We had the best chance in the match to score the leading goal 1-0, which would have changed the course of the game. They took two shots and scored two goals."

He added about his overall feeling regarding his team's performance: "The two halves were completely different. The first half was very positive in all aspects, while the second half was entirely different. Credit must be given to the opponent."

He continued: "We had opportunities for counterattacks, but we lost the ball. And when we regained it, we immediately lost it again."

When asked if he regretted choosing Kepa as the goalkeeper: "I would choose him again. He deserved to play in this match, and his performance with us was excellent. Mistakes are part of football, and any player can make them."

On the importance of staying calm: "We have spent wonderful months together, today is disappointing, and this is part of football. We need to harness this fighting spirit to have an amazing two months at the end of the season."
