A Resounding Fall for Egyptian Football... Zamalek Alone Survives
Sunday 22-03-2026
Zamalek Club continued its continental presence after successfully qualifying for the semi-finals of the African Confederation Cup, following their victory over Otoho with a total score of three goals to two in the quarter-final matches.

In contrast, Pyramids exited the African Champions League after losing to the Royal Army with two goals to one, in the match held at the Air Defense Stadium during the second leg of the quarter-finals.

Similarly, Al Ahly bid farewell to the same tournament after losing to Tunisia's Esperance with a total of four goals to two over the two matches, in the encounter held at Cairo International Stadium.

The situation was no better for Al Masry Al Portsaidi, who exited the Confederation Cup after a goalless draw against Chabab Belouizdad in the second leg of the quarter-finals.

These results reflect a decline in the performance of Egyptian clubs at the African level during the current period, with more than one representative being eliminated from the knockout stages.

On the national teams level, the Egyptian national team ended its journey in the African tournament at the semi-final stage after losing to Senegal with one goal to none.

Thus, Zamalek remains the only Egyptian representative in the advanced stages, aiming to continue the journey and maintain the Egyptian presence in continental competitions.
