Sunday 22-03-2026
The Renaissance Berkane team secured a spot in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League after a dramatic 1-0 victory over Sudan's Al Hilal in the second leg of the quarter-finals.

The match was held at Amahoro Stadium in Rwanda due to security conditions in Sudan, which made it impossible to hold the meeting on Sudanese soil.

The match began evenly, with limited attempts from both sides and no real threat to the goal, ending the first half in a goalless draw.

In the second half, the match witnessed an exciting moment in the 56th minute when player Adama Coulibaly scored a goal for Al Hilal. However, the video assistant referee intervened and canceled the goal, awarding a penalty to the Moroccan team, which Munir El Shouyaer missed after a successful save by goalkeeper Farid.

The attempts from both sides continued without any change in the result, despite the tactical substitutions made by the coaches, leaving the match open until the final minutes.

In injury time, specifically in the 90+3 minute, Al-Shuwaier succeeded in making up for missing the penalty kick by scoring the decisive winning goal, granting his team a ticket to the semifinals.

The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw, allowing the Moroccan team to secure qualification on aggregate.

With this victory, Renaissance Berkane sets a date with the Royal Army in the semifinals, in an eagerly anticipated all-Moroccan clash.
