Rüdiger on the Verge of Renewing His Contract with Real Madrid
Sunday 22-03-2026
Álvaro Arbeloa, the coach of Real Madrid, revealed a radical change in the situation of the German defender Antonio Rüdiger within the royal team, after describing him by saying he would place a statue of him in his garden, a clear indication of the club's appreciation for his contributions and readiness to renew his contract.

Arbeloa explained that from the first day Rüdiger arrived at Real Madrid, he was fully committed to the coaching staff. He noted a conversation with him several months ago, where the player promised he would be ready to face the toughest stages, a promise he fulfilled after successfully undergoing treatment in London that resolved the knee issues that had previously hindered him.

Arbeloa pointed out that Rüdiger played most of last season's matches despite the pain and relied on painkillers before each training session. He underwent knee arthroscopy after the Spanish Cup final against Barcelona at the La Cartuja Stadium. The decision to travel to London for treatment was crucial for regaining his fitness.

The German defender is now ready to play consecutive matches, as he participates in his seventh consecutive game against Atletico Madrid. He has started in nine of the last ten matches, completing ninety minutes in eight of them, confirming that he has overcome all his previous physical issues.

Real Madrid is awaiting the resolution of Rüdiger's contract renewal, while the player shows a strong desire to stay for an additional season, continuing to fulfill his dream of playing with the royal team. It is noted that competition from players like Jonathan Tah and Schlotterbeck may affect his primary position. However, he has set two clear goals for his recovery in London: regaining full fitness with Real Madrid and performing well in the World Cup. After that, his contract can be renewed naturally.
