Araujo Opens Scoring and Matches His Goal Record with Barcelona
Sunday 22-03-2026
The Uruguayan defender Ronald Araújo opened the scoring for Barcelona against Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish League match, confirming his outstanding performance this season, according to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo."

Araujo's goal came in the first half after he capitalized on a well-executed corner kick by Joao Cancelo, heading it powerfully into the net, giving his team the lead. He played as a right-back during the match due to the absence of both Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia due to injury.

With this goal, Araujo increased his tally to four goals this season, matching his best scoring record. He had previously scored against Real Oviedo and Girona, as well as finding the net against Rayo Vallecano in the league, and also scored a goal against Albacete in the Copa del Rey.

This goal came on the same day reports emerged about Liverpool's interest in signing him. However, the player, whose contract with Barcelona runs until 2031, is keen on staying with the Catalan team.
