Al-Ahly Ready to Face Esperance, Aiming for Victory and Qualification
Friday 20-03-2026
Al Ahly coach Jes Torup confirmed that his team is ready and prepared for tomorrow's match against Tunisia's Esperance in the Champions League.

Al-Ahly will face Esperance tomorrow, Saturday, in the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals at Cairo International Stadium.

At the pre-match press conference, Torop said: "Eid Mubarak, and this day is very special for you after the end of Ramadan and the Eid prayer for you and your families. I also hope that tomorrow will be a special day for Al Ahly Club."

He continued: "We lost the first half of the match against Esperance in Tunisia 1-0, but the game is still open and there is another half tomorrow in Cairo. We have prepared well for tomorrow's match, reviewed our mistakes, and are getting ready properly."

Torop also said: "I don't usually single out players, but we work as a group. I always place influential players on the field to score goals. In the past weeks, I mentioned that the attacking statistics weren't the best, but now we face a reality where we need to score tomorrow to qualify. Beyond the idea of a striker or the quality of performance, for me, everyone has an offensive role and everyone has a defensive role, and we need to elevate the team's overall offensive performance."

He added: "I know that since I signed with Al Ahly Club, I am expected to win titles, and that's what brought me here to a club with a lot of ambition. I don't concern myself with what's being said about my departure, but I focus on developing the players to win."
