Eric Garcia Faces Physical Fatigue Due to Lack of Rotation at Barcelona
Friday 20-03-2026
The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" revealed that defender Eric Garcia is experiencing increased physical pressure this season with Barcelona due to his continuous participation and the absence of a rotation policy, which has started to affect his physical condition recently.

The newspaper clarified that Garcia participated in the first 40 official matches of the team during the 2025/2026 season, starting in 39 of them, making him the most featured player in coach Hans Flick's lineup. He only sat on the bench in one match against Racing Santander, before coming on to ensure qualification.

The player missed his first match of the season in the second leg of the King's Cup against Atletico Madrid due to suspension after being sent off in the first leg, and this was the only absence not due to technical or physical reasons.

During the San Mamés match, signs of fatigue appeared on Garcia in the final minutes, as he seemed physically affected while trying to continue until the end. He managed to complete the match until the 95th minute despite the evident struggle, due to the accumulation of playing minutes which reached 3,280 minutes without sufficient rest.

Despite having rested during the matches against Newcastle and Sevilla, he was only able to continue for 20 minutes in the return leg against the English team before leaving the field as a precautionary measure. This decision helped prevent his condition from worsening into a muscle injury or tear.

Garcia is considered one of the key players in Barcelona's lineup this season, having delivered impressive performances in multiple positions, whether as a full-back or a defensive midfielder. However, he stands out more prominently as a central defender, where his abilities are clearly showcased, making him one of the important pillars of the team.
