Wydad Settles on Benhachem Temporarily Before Crucial Safi Encounter
Thursday 19-03-2026
The management of Wydad Athletic Club is inclined to keep Mohamed Amine Benhachem in his position to lead the team during the current phase, ahead of the anticipated match against Olympique Safi in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals.

According to press reports, Benhachem will continue his duties as head of the technical staff for the time being and will lead the team in next Sunday's match, despite the mounting public pressure following the recent loss to the Royal Army in the "Clasico."

The sources added that the option of contracting with coach Hussein Ammouta has declined recently, as negotiations have stalled and no tangible progress has been made between the two parties.

The club's management also indicated that they contacted Tarek Sektioui to discuss the possibility of him taking on the coaching responsibilities, but he declined, preferring to continue his current duties with the national teams.

Wydad continues its preparations for the decisive match against Olympique Safi, scheduled for next Sunday. It is noteworthy that the first leg, held at the Al-Massira Stadium, ended in a 1-1 draw, which increases the importance of the return match in determining who will advance to the next round.
