Al-Qadisiyah Player Puts Renard in Trouble After ACL Injury
Al-Qadisiyah of Saudi Arabia received a major blow after it was confirmed that their defender, Waleed Al-Ahmad, would miss the rest of the season, at a critical time in the competition for the Saudi Roshan League title.
The club announced through its official account that the player has suffered a torn cruciate ligament, an injury that will keep him off the field for a long time.
Al-Qadisiyah clarified that Al-Ahmad will undergo surgery in the near future, and the duration of his absence and his specific medical rehabilitation program will be determined later.
This injury represents a significant loss for the team amid the strong competition for the league title this season with Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, and Al-Ahli from Saudi Arabia.
The injury also represents a blow to coach Hervé Renard, the head coach of the Saudi Arabian national football team, as it may prevent the player from participating in the 2026 World Cup.
Al-Ahmad joined Al-Qadsia during the winter transfer window in January 2023, coming from Al-Taawoun of Saudi Arabia. He participated in six matches with his new team, during which he scored one goal and assisted another.
The player was injured during the first half of the match between Al-Qadisiyah and Al-Ahli Saudi in the 26th round, which ended with Al-Qadisiyah winning 3-2.
Al-Qadsia occupies the fourth position in the league standings with 60 points, seven points behind the leader Al-Nassr.
