Gavi Returns to the Field After 203 Days Absence
Sunday 15-03-2026
The match between Barcelona and Sevilla witnessed the return of Spanish midfielder Gavi to the field after a long absence of 203 days due to injury.

Gavi participated in the second half of the match held as part of the Spanish League competition, after coach Hans Flick brought him on as a substitute for his teammate Raphinha in the 82nd minute, allowing the young midfielder to return to the competitive atmosphere once again.

As soon as he stepped onto the Spotify Camp Nou pitch, Gavi received a warm welcome from the Barcelona fans who stood to greet him in appreciation of his return after a long absence. His teammate Ronald Araújo also handed him the captain's armband in a special gesture, something Pedri had done previously upon his return from injury.

Gavi sustained an injury on August 23 during the match against Levante in the second round of the Spanish League at the Ciutat de València Stadium, before making his return against Sevilla after recovering.

Interestingly, Sevilla was also the opponent against whom Gavi made his return from a previous injury. He came back to play against the Andalusian team on October 20, 2024, after being sidelined for 348 days due to a severe injury he sustained with the Spanish national team in November 2023. This injury involved a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and damage to the lateral meniscus cartilage.

The return of Gavi gives a significant boost to Barcelona ahead of the crucial stage of the season, as the team strives to continue competing strongly in various tournaments.
