Race Between Cairo and Jeddah to Save Egypt-Saudi Arabia Friendly Before the World Cup
Friday 13-03-2026
The anticipated friendly match between Egypt and Saudi Arabia is facing potential changes in its venue after it became impossible to host it in Qatar as part of the teams' preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

The Saudi national team is preparing to play two friendly matches during the upcoming international break, facing Egypt on March 26, followed by a match against Serbia on the 30th of the same month.

The match between Egypt and Saudi Arabia was scheduled to take place in Qatar, but the current circumstances in the Middle East have made organizing the game there difficult.

According to what was revealed by the media personality Walid Al-Faraj on his program on "MBC Action" channel, there are alternative proposals for hosting the anticipated match between the two national teams.

The current options are leaning towards holding the match in one of the two Saudi cities, Jeddah or Riyadh, while keeping its previously set date during the international break in March.

Another proposal was put forward to move the meeting to Cairo if it cannot be organized in Saudi Arabia, which keeps the possibilities open for now.

The organizing bodies are expected to make a final decision in the coming days regarding the country that will host the friendly match between the two national teams.

The Egyptian national team is in Group G of the 2026 World Cup alongside Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand, while the Saudi national team is in Group H with Spain, Uruguay, and Cape Verde.
