Real Madrid has become the team with the most penalty kicks awarded in the history of the UEFA Champions League after the penalty awarded to them against Manchester City in the first leg of the Round of 16, according to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo."

Manchester City's goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma saved the penalty, which was missed by the Brazilian Vinicius Junior.

This brings the number of penalty kicks awarded to Real Madrid to 66, surpassing Bayern Munich, which was tied with them at 65. Meanwhile, Barcelona ranks third with 59 penalty kicks, showing a clear difference from the top two teams.

In the current 2025/2026 season, 16 penalties have been awarded to Real Madrid across all competitions, including 11 penalties during 27 rounds of La Liga, reflecting the team's offensive strength and sustained motivation in matches.
