The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" clarified that Norwegian striker Erling Haaland did not perform well against Real Madrid on Wednesday in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16.

The newspaper reported that Haaland seemed disconnected from the flow of the game throughout the match, before coach Pep Guardiola substituted him in the 82nd minute by bringing on Omar Marmoush, after Haaland failed to make any shots, either on target or off, which is a rare occurrence in his career.

The newspaper added that this scenario has happened to Haaland only once before in the UEFA Champions League, during the group stage of the 2020/2021 season, in the match between Borussia Dortmund and Lazio, which ended with the Italian team winning 3-1.

The newspaper pointed out that Haaland has participated in 57 Champions League matches so far, scoring 56 goals, and he has only left two matches without taking a shot, making the Real Madrid match exceptional in his European career.
