The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation has commenced investigation procedures regarding the complaint filed by Al-Ittihad Club against Al-Ahli's English striker Ivan Toney.

This move came after the controversy sparked by Tony's celebration of his team's first goal during the Jeddah derby against Al-Ittihad in the 25th round of the Roshn League.

The English striker scored the goal in the 23rd minute of the match after a cross sent by the Brazilian Wenderson Galeno into the penalty area.

The club's management explained in their complaint that Toni deliberately headed towards the stands of the Al-Ittihad fans, who made up about 10% of the stadium's attendance.

The complaint also indicated that the player made gestures that the club considered inappropriate, calling for the application of Article 1/72 of the disciplinary regulations.

This article stipulates penalties that may include suspension for a period of no less than six matches and could extend up to two years.

The Disciplinary Committee requested the management of Al-Ahly Club to provide an official statement from the player Ivan Toney regarding the incident, in preparation for reviewing the file and making an appropriate decision.

On the other hand, press reports stated that the match referee Nikola Dabanović's report did not include any note regarding the player's misconduct during his goal celebration.
