De Zerbi Candidate for Manchester United Coaching Role
Reports have revealed that Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi has become one of the leading candidates to take over as manager of Manchester United in the near future, as the club's management searches for a permanent coach, with his chances of moving to Tottenham Hotspur diminishing.
According to "TEAMtalk," Manchester United's management has become more convinced of the possibility of reaching an agreement with De Zerbi, after the Italian coach expressed his readiness to take on the role of managing the team starting next summer.
This comes at a time when interim coach Michael Carrick is delivering positive results with the team, having led Manchester United to six victories in the first seven matches since taking over, which has revived the team's hopes of competing for qualification to the UEFA Champions League.
Despite the good results achieved by Carrick, the report indicated that Manchester United's management is still considering a number of other options for the permanent head coach position.
The "Daily Telegraph" reported that De Zerbi, the former coach of Marseille, is interested in taking over as manager of Manchester United, particularly as he wishes to return to the Premier League and lead one of the major clubs.
The report added that Manchester United's management is currently considering three names for the position: De Zerbi, German coach Julian Nagelsmann, and Portugal national team coach Roberto Martinez, while both Carlo Ancelotti and Thomas Tuchel have been excluded from the list of candidates.
