The UEFA has announced the appointment of Italian referee Marco Guida to officiate the match between Newcastle United and Barcelona, scheduled for next Tuesday as part of the UEFA Champions League competition.

The Italian referee has never officiated a match for Newcastle, but he previously refereed a match for Real Madrid against Kairat Almaty last September, which ended with the Spanish team winning 5-0, where the video technology canceled a penalty against Real Madrid that Guida had awarded when the score was 2-0 in favor of the Royal team.
