Barcelona players are wearing black armbands during their match against Athletic Bilbao at San Mamés Stadium, as part of the 27th round of the Spanish League, in mourning for the passing of young midfielder Pablo Gavi's grandmother.

Gavi's trip to Bilbao was delayed due to this family circumstance, as he was initially scheduled to travel with the team delegation in the morning. However, he joined the group later in the evening to be alongside his teammates for this match.

Despite joining the team on the trip, the Spanish player is still not ready to participate in matches, as he continues his recovery phase from a knee injury he sustained in September 2025, which required him to undergo surgery on the inner cartilage of his right knee.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick confirmed that Gavi is currently training with the group but has not yet reached full readiness to participate. He noted that his return to matches could come after the next international break if his recovery continues positively.
