Inzaghi Talks About Right-Back Crisis Before Facing Al Hilal and Al Najma
Thursday 05-03-2026
Italian Simone Inzaghi, the coach of Al-Hilal Saudi, spoke about the shortage crisis in the right-back position ahead of the anticipated match against Al-Najma Saudi, as part of the Saudi Professional League competitions.

Al Hilal is preparing to face Al Najma in the twenty-fifth round of the league at Kingdom Arena on Friday, March 6.

Inzaghi faces a crisis at the right-back position following Hamad Al-Yami's injury and subsequent surgery, which will sideline him for an extended period. This has forced the Italian coach to seek temporary solutions to fill this gap by repositioning some players.

Inzaghi said during the pre-match press conference on Thursday: "We were struggling in the right-back position, and we tried to sign a player for this position during the last transfer window, but it didn't happen. After Al-Yami's injury, things got even more complicated."

The Al-Hilal coach indicated that he is still looking for solutions by utilizing more than one player in this position, such as the winger Sultan Mandash and his teammate Abdulkarim Darcy.

He added: "I am in constant contact with Mohammed Al-Shalhoub, the Olympic team's coach, to monitor the available players, and I believe their performance is very good."

In conclusion, Inzaghi addressed Al-Hilal fans, saying: "I hope our fans will be present in large numbers at the match, as they always have been."
