Rabat Enters the Race to Host the Finalissima
Wednesday 04-03-2026
The Spanish newspaper AS revealed that the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, has become one of the options considered to host the anticipated "Finalissima" match between the Spanish national team and the Argentine national team, after it became impossible to organize it in Qatar due to the current situation in the Middle East.

The newspaper stated that the stadium's capacity and the scheduled date for the match are two key factors in determining the next venue, especially after selling 88,800 tickets, which necessitates holding the match in a stadium capable of accommodating a large number of spectators.

In the same context, the Spanish national team coach Luis de la Fuente called for finding a suitable alternative, emphasizing that the solution lies in choosing another stadium since it has become impossible to play the match in Qatar.

"AS" indicated that Rabat seems to be a feasible option, especially since the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, which was reopened in its new form in 2025, can accommodate about 70,000 spectators, making it suitable to host an event of this magnitude.

In addition to Rabat, several stadiums are still on the list of nominations, including Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, as well as MetLife Stadium in New York – New Jersey.

The final decision remains contingent on the agreement of the organizing parties, amid a clear desire to hold the "Finalissima" in an atmosphere that matches the value of the two teams and the significance of the event.
