Expected Sanctions from CAF Against Al Ahly
Wednesday 04-03-2026
Moroccan press reports have revealed that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is close to announcing sanctions against Egypt's Al Ahly following the events of the Red team's match against Morocco's Royal Army in the African Champions League.

The match between Al Ahly and FAR Rabat at the conclusion of the group stage in the Champions League saw the red team's fans throwing water bottles, which caused the game to be halted multiple times.

The Moroccan newspaper "Al-Boutoula" reported that the CAF Disciplinary Committee is about to decide that Al Ahly will play two matches behind closed doors, with the execution of one match suspended in the future if the same violations are repeated, in addition to imposing financial penalties on the Red Club.

The newspaper confirmed that if this decision is issued, Al-Ahly will play the return leg against Tunisian team Esperance in the quarter-finals of the African Champions League on March 21 without any spectators.
