AFC Postpones West Asia Club Matches Until Further Notice
The Asian Football Confederation announced the postponement of several club competition matches in the West region due to developments in the Middle East. The decision was made to ensure the safety of all involved in the game and to guarantee that matches are held under suitable conditions.
The decision included rescheduling the first-leg matches of the Round of 16 of the AFC Champions League for the elite in the West Zone, which were initially set to take place on the 2nd and 3rd of March. The new dates will be determined later after assessing the developments.
It was also decided to postpone the first-leg matches of the quarter-finals for both the AFC Champions League and the AFC Challenge Cup in the West region, which were scheduled for the third and fourth of the same month, in a move that reflects the continental federation's flexibility in dealing with emergency situations.
The federation confirmed in its statement that the postponed matches will be held on dates to be announced later, emphasizing its continuous monitoring of developments and coordination with national federations and concerned clubs to ensure the completion of competitions according to the highest standards of safety and organization.
