Abdullah Shehata, the legal advisor for the football sector at Al Ahly Club, announced the submission of an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the ruling issued by the FIFA Players' Status Committee in favor of the Spanish coach, José Ribeiro, the former team coach.

FIFA had ruled to compensate Ribeiro with a total amount of $588,000, including the penalty clause stipulated in his contract for a period of 3 months.

Abdullah Shehata added in statements reported by the official Al-Ahly website: "This step will be completed in no more than three weeks, after the club receives the grounds for the decision issued in favor of the Spanish coach."

He added, "The ruling is not final, and there are other levels of litigation. An appeal will be filed according to the procedures followed in this matter."
