Egyptian Referees in CAF Elite Camp in Cairo in Preparation for Crucial Rounds
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced today, Wednesday, the list of referees selected to participate in the "Elite Referees" camp on the African continent, which saw a strong presence of Egyptian referees with seven prominent names.
The list of referees included: Amin Omar, Mohamed Maarouf, and Mahmoud Nagy, while Mahmoud Abu El-Regal and Ahmed Hossam Taha were selected as assistants, in addition to the duo Mahmoud Ashour and Hossam Azab Haggag as video assistant referees (VAR).
Cairo is scheduled to host the camp activities from March 4 to 8, 2026, as part of an intensive training program aimed at enhancing the physical and technical readiness of referees before the crucial stages of the continental season.
This camp is part of CAF's plan to prepare referees for managing knockout stage matches, particularly the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final in the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup, ensuring the highest levels of officiating in major competitions.
