Ben Sharqi Explains to Torop the Reason for His Decline in Performance with Al-Ahly
Wednesday 25-02-2026
Ashraf Bencharki, the Al Ahly player, revealed the reasons for the decline in his performance in recent times during a private session with the head coach Jes Thorup.

According to Al-Ahram newspaper, Ben Sharqi informed his coach that he does not feel comfortable playing on the right wing and prefers to play as a left winger, as it gives him more freedom to move and create danger, compared to the role required of him on the right side.

The newspaper indicated that Torop assured the player he would study the matter technically, in preparation for making the appropriate decision regarding his position in upcoming matches, as the coaching staff seeks to restore the best version of the Moroccan star.

It is noted that Ben Sharqi scored 3 goals and provided 6 assists in 23 matches this season wearing the Al Ahly jersey, which recently achieved a victory over Smouha with a clean goal scored by Marwan Osman in the nineteenth round of the Egyptian League.
