The UEFA announced the appointment of Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic to officiate the Real Madrid vs Benfica match in the UEFA Champions League.

The match will take place on Wednesday with a 1-0 advantage for Real Madrid, led by Arbeloa, after securing the first leg in Lisbon. The match might be affected by the incident related to the alleged racial insult from Brestinani towards Vinicius, and Jose Mourinho will be absent from the bench following his dismissal in the first leg.

Vincic is 46 years old and previously officiated Real Madrid's fifteenth Champions League title final against Borussia Dortmund. This will be the second match he leads for the royal team in the current edition, after officiating the group stage match at Santiago Bernabeu, which ended with a 1-0 victory for Real Madrid over Juventus.

This will be his fourth European match with Real Madrid and his seventh in the current edition of the tournament. As for Benfica, it will also be his seventh European match, with a record of two wins, three draws, and one loss, which was against Chelsea in the Club World Cup last summer.

Italian Daniele Orsato will be responsible for the Video Assistant Referee technology in the match.
