Atletico Madrid secured an important 4-2 victory over Espanyol in the match that brought them together in the 25th round of the Spanish League, held at the Metropolitano Stadium.

Espanyol reduced the deficit by scoring a second goal in the 80th minute through Edu Expósito, ending the match with Atlético Madrid winning 4-2. This victory raised Atlético's tally to 48 points, placing them fourth in the Spanish league standings, while Espanyol's points remained at 35, leaving them in sixth place.
