Ribeiro Delivers Shock to Al-Ahly
The "On Sport" channel revealed new developments in the dispute between the Egyptian Al Ahly club and José Ribeiro, the former head coach of the Red team.
Ribeiro took on the role of head coach for Al-Ahly in June and left at the end of September due to poor results.
The Al-Ahly management had agreed with Ribeiro to terminate the contract by mutual consent, with him receiving three months' salary as a financial settlement.
Ribeiro resorted to a lawyer specializing in FIFA regulations, who in turn pointed out the coach's right to receive compensation for the moral damages he suffered.
She added: "This clause nullified the previous agreement between Ribeiro and Al-Ahly after the Spanish coach contacted the Red Castle's management to demand financial compensation and his moral rights following his dismissal."
The Al-Ahly club management enlisted an international lawyer to study the legal aspects of the case, in anticipation of any potential escalation by the coach with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
