Brazilian Federation Demands Decisive Sanctions in Vinicius Case
Friday 20-02-2026
The Brazilian Football Confederation called on the European and International Federations (UEFA and FIFA) to "identify and punish" anyone found guilty of racial abuse against Vinicius Junior, following the incident that occurred during the Real Madrid and Benfica match in the UEFA Champions League playoff.

Media reports indicated that the investigation opened by the Union of European Football Associations, led by an ethics and discipline investigator, could take up to three weeks before reaching final conclusions regarding the incident.

This delay means that Vinicius Junior and Gianluca Prestianni might face each other again in the return match at Santiago Bernabeu next Wednesday, while the issue remains unresolved by the relevant authorities.

The issue continues to garner widespread attention within football circles, amid increasing calls for strict measures against racism in European stadiums, as the results of the investigation are awaited in the coming weeks.
