Thursday 19-02-2026
Chelsea coach Liam Rosenior made decisive statements against racism, in the context of the case involving Vinicius Junior and Gianluca Prestiani, a Benfica player, during their teams' match in the playoff qualifying for the Champions League round of 16.

The coach said in his statement: "If a player, coach, or official is proven guilty of racism, there is no place for them in football."

He added: "Any form of racism in society, not just in football, is unacceptable. This is absolutely unacceptable."

Rosenior explained that he could not comment on an incident still under investigation, but he pointed out that seeing a player psychologically affected, as Vinicius appeared, is usually for a good reason.

He concluded his talk by revealing a painful personal experience, saying: "I have personally been subjected to racial insults before."

The strong statements by the English coach reflect a clear and firm stance against any form of racism inside and outside the stadiums.
