The government's intervention comes through the Sports Violence Prevention and Control Authority to verify whether the player committed a racist act during the match.

According to the official statement, the administrative investigation could lead to legal consequences if the abuse is confirmed, including the potential involvement of criminal justice or the imposition of significant financial fines, in addition to potential responsibilities on Benfica itself.

Reports also indicated that the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) may impose independent sporting sanctions if the violation is confirmed, as its regulations allow for the possibility of suspending the player for up to 10 matches or for an indefinite period due to insults related to race, color, religion, origin, or sexual orientation.
