Manchester United Considers Signing Barcelona Defender
Wednesday 18-02-2026
Manchester United has shown interest in signing Alejandro Balde, the Barcelona left-back, in the upcoming period, according to 'TEAMtalk'.

This comes at a time when Barcelona is entering a crucial phase of the season, after coach Hans Flick spoke about the need for a reset following the cup loss to Atletico Madrid, and then the league defeat to Girona, in a match that witnessed refereeing controversy. The Catalan club realizes the need to elevate its performance to maintain its chances of competing for all titles.

Balde is one of the names that have emerged in recent rounds, as the left-back has been unable to deliver his best performances amid the team's fluctuating performance. He struggled at the Metropolitano Stadium, where most of Atletico's threat came from the left side, and Flick preferred to deploy Gerard Martin at the full-back position during the Girona match.

Although the 22-year-old is still considered a strategic asset due to his physical strength and ability to occupy the flank, he has not consistently displayed the level that previously established him as an indispensable starter this season.

According to the same source, Manchester United, led by Michael Carrick, is considering making an offer to sign the Barcelona defender, with the potential offer reaching around 40 million euros.

Balde is tied to a contract extending until 2028, with a substantial release clause, giving Barcelona a position of strength in any potential negotiations. This season, he has played 32 matches and provided three assists, and he continues to attract interest in the transfer market despite not being in his best form.
